2025 CEO Update: A Year Marked by God’s Faithfulness
AW Tozer once said, "God is looking for those with whom He can do the impossible. What a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves."
Two years into building Flourish Fund, Tozer’s sentiment feels more real to me than ever.
Building anything new is hard.
Inviting generous families to collaborate in their giving – that’s even harder.
Orchestrating philanthropy, social entrepreneurs, and the church around a strategy to reimagine the foster care system? No question – by ourselves, that’s an impossible goal.
There was a point earlier this year when I felt overwhelmed by the weight of that impossibility – reminded again and again that our striving and smarts were never going to be enough to get us over the next hump in chasing this audacious vision.
Right at that moment, the Lord provided in ways that we couldn’t have foreseen. Within a few weeks, a new door opened, leading to a multi-million dollar partnership with Google.org. Several generous families stepped forward with new commitments. Gradually, then suddenly, we were on our way.
That turn of events changed everything. It was a wonderful reminder of God’s evergreen faithfulness and His desire to draw us into the bigger story that He’s writing – and to use our contributions, in dependence on Him, to remake us into who He wants us to be.
A Year of Growth, Clarity, and Acceleration
Flourish Fund’s 2025 story is your story of impact. Fueled by your prayers, generosity, and God’s faithfulness, this community:
Invested the first $1M in grants in innovators who are strengthening families, mobilizing churches, and caring for vulnerable children.
Launched the first local pilot in Fort Worth, building a collaborative, church-centered model that will serve as the blueprint for future cities.
Grew our community and hosted a first community gathering, bringing together generous givers who want to work together to fuel redemptive change for their neighbors.
Built a team with deep expertise and mature faith, capable of stewarding this audacious vision with excellence and integrity.
These early investments in innovators are directly impacting the lives and communities they serve. This year alone, your generosity and prayers are supporting:
CAFO, working to double the number of county networks that are mobilizing volunteers from churches and community organizations to wrap around biological, foster, adoptive, and kinship families – providing durable, life-on-life support.
Every Mother’s Advocate (ĒMA), building more evidence around their effective foster care prevention model that supports moms in crisis, achieving a remarkable 85% family preservation rate.
Promise686, investing in technology that empowers foster families to receive meals, childcare, and respite within hours – with the goal to support 1,000 new churches.
Restore Hope, replicating the innovative 100 Families Initiative, which leverages technology and relationships to coordinate care for parents moving from crisis to stability.
… and many other worthy organizations working to reimagine foster care. Individually, these organizations are doing outstanding redemptive work. Knitting these pieces together, God is using the Flourish Fund community to do the impossible. Families can stay together, vulnerable children and foster families can receive the support they need, and communities can become places of true belonging and resilience. At scale, this broken system can be reimagined.
Looking Ahead
We enter the new year with momentum, clarity, and a deep sense that God is assembling the resources, people, and partnerships needed for transformational Kingdom impact.
As we humbly chase after this vision, we want to be those with whom God can do the impossible. So we’re focused on:
Growing the portfolio of the most innovative, effective organizations working in foster care — finding the best and making them better.
Strengthening and replicating the model emerging from the Fort Worth pilot and launching additional pilots in South Florida, San Diego, and Memphis.
Kicking off a national innovation challenge to accelerate new ideas for strengthening families and preventing vulnerable kids from entering foster care.
Stewarding a community of generosity that proves out a new model in Christian philanthropy — so we can repeat this process on other big Kingdom challenges.
Thank you for believing in this work. Thank you for investing in a future where every child and every family can flourish. We are grateful for you and excited for all that God will do in the year ahead.
With gratitude,
Dan Vogel
